Cant connect afp to server now I have upgraded to Yosemite

We have upgraded one of our imacs from 10.6 Snow Leopard to 10.10 Yosemite.
And now we can't connect to out file server.

the message says:

"There was a problem connecting to the server. The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported"

This is a PC Server, but we connected fine before, and I have connected to servers successfully from my mac also.

Is there any workaround ? Otherwise we may have to get them to upgrade the server which will be a complete pain.

No. Thanks I previously checked these out.

What I dont understand is whether Yosemite supports afp at all?

or do I have to use smb?

I can connect to the windows server using smb, but it does not show all the folders it used to, when I was on 10.6 and used afp to connect.

Sorry, I don't have a Windows Server to test, afp works to other Macs though.
